Analysis Paralysis Mindset means concentrating on research and/or analysis somuch that it prevents making an architectural decision and/or recommendation quickly enough. This mindset also manifests itself in being paralyzed due to unfinished work, waiting for formal sign-off, or following a rigid process. This analysis paralysis mindset is rooted in the fear and the associated consequences of being wrong, failing, or not having the answer to every possible scenario.
Overcoming this mindset requires fostering a culture that allows:
1. saying “I do not know, but I will find out;”
2. learning through experimenting and failing;
3. taking initiative and using advantages and resources; and
4. making decisions based on evidence and calculated intuition.
