Data Mesh The concept of data mesh is related but slightly different to that of data fabric. A data mesh consists of data products, each of which meets a set of user needs and has assured levels of quality and security. A data product is a computing unit that includes data, code, and metadata, and uses a data platform. (A data platform can be shared by multiple data products.) A data mesh has domain-oriented, decentralized data ownership and management. It does not necessarily provide uniform access to the data, but the data products of a mesh can be exposed by data platforms as sources in a data fabric.
